Fabric
The Sparrow Set is designed for light - medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, cotton lawn or poplin, silk satins and crepe de chines. We love how this pattern looks and feels in our Vintage Finish and Gingham Linens. For a pop of colour, you could also try a Liberty print!
Interfacing
Adding a small piece of lightweight woven interfacing (fusing) at the centre front buttonholes on the pants is optional, and can help to provide stability for lighter weight fabrics.
Drawstring
The Sparrow Pant + Short features a drawstring at the waist. You can sew your own, or use 10mm wide cord or tape. You will need a drawstring 1.6m – 2.3m, depending on the size you are sewing.
Elastic
You will need 50mm wide elastic for the waist of the pants. Between 0.7m - 1.4m will be required depending on the size you are sewing.
Thread
You will need at least one spool of thread for straight stitching, and 4 additional threads if you choose to overlock or serge the exposed interior seams.
Tools
The Sparrow Short + Pant can be completed with a regular domestic sewing machine, with zig-zag stitch capability and buttonhole function. If desired, you can finish/neaten interior exposed seams with an overlocker/serger.
You will also require an iron, a point-turner, a sharp pair of sewing scissors and pins.
