// An Italian-made Liberty cotton from the Piccadilly Poplin range - Peaks in tones of blue, beige and brown/grey on an ivory base. Peaks is painted in gouache to create an abstract geometric camo design, inspired by Arthur Liberty’s 1897 trip to the Basque mountain range. For Autumn/Winter 2019’s Aesthetic Renaissance collection, Liberty Fabrics’ in-house design team drew inspiration from the adventurous life and artistic inspirations of our founder, Sir Arthur Lasenby Liberty. Traveller, tastemaker and gentleman, Arthur’s passion for globetrotting and treasure-hunting with his wife Emma forms the basis of Liberty’s enduring appeal. Inspirations swing from expeditions in faraway lands to the peace and quiet of English country gardens, via the opulently stylised forms of the Aesthetic Movement and Art Nouveau styles. The design is printed by experts at the Liberty Printing Mill in northern Italy onto classic cotton poplin. An attractive woven fabric with a pleasant hand feel and rich yarn construction, this poplin is characterized by the comfort and breathability that makes it perfect to wear in all seasons. Piccadilly poplin is a fine cotton fabric characterised by its closely-woven single 60s threads, combining durability with sleek, lightly sheened elegance. This crisp, structured yet lightweight, non-stretch fabric is an ideal weight for tops, dresses, childrenswear and DIY projects.
