Online team member Chloe recently snapped up some Helmut Lang designer deadstock denim, perfect for the utilitarian apron she's been planning. She loved the shape of Lydia Naomi's Dawn Apron pattern, and paired it with this new Italian dark indigo denim! Check out her project notes, pictures and immaculate topstitching detail below!

Pattern Used — Dawn Apron by Lydia Naomi
Chloe is an intermediate level sewist, and used the size L apron pattern from Lydia Naomi. She ended up trimming it down a little, putting the end result closer to a size M, particularly in the front. She used 1.5m of our 11oz Cotton Denim in the colour Midnight, plus topstitching and regular threads. Chloe chose this denim as she wanted a fabric that would be practical, hardwearing, and compliment her existing outfits whilst in the kitchen and doing gardening and DIY projects. The project took around 6 hours in total, as she spent a fair amount of time getting all of that lovely topstitching accurate! Chloe made a few minor adjustments to the fit and silhouette, removing some of the A-line flare from the skirt section to give a straighter fit, adding a centre seam, a little extra length and trimming the shoulders down.
Chloe found the end result comfortable, forgiving and easy to wear, and said the instructions were easy to follow too! She's looking forward to wearing this beyond her kitchen and garden too, perhaps popping it on for a jewellery or pottery workshop in the future!
