Pattern Reviews — Miller Trouser + Ogden Cami

Pattern Reviews — Miller Trouser + Ogden Cami

We love the minimalist vibes of Tara's Paper Theory patterns and the Miller Trouser is no exception! Super simple to sew, with a relaxed tapered leg, easy-wear elasticated waist and extended size range, these trousers are a must-make. This week we are featuring our incredible new Vintage Finish Linen colours Chartreuse and Shell. This beautiful new linen quality features a uniquely ‘worn-in’ look and super soft handle. We’re super excited about these linens and know that you will be too! Read on for our review of the Miller Trouser (paired with one of our fave patterns, the Ogden Cami by True Bias) graciously modelled by Ella from our HQ team.

Pattern Review

Miller Trouser by Paper Theory + Ogden Cami by True Bias

Paper Theory released the Miller Trouser late last year and caught our eye; simple, clean silhouettes in trousers are hard to find! The Miller Trousers are a relaxed and easy to wear style, with the option of an elasticated or tie waist. Tara has designed them to sit high on your natural waist above your belly button. They feature a slim tapering leg with a pleat in the front for extra fullness, deep side pockets and a dart in the back waist for shaping.

We made up version A (with no waist tie) in size 8 for Ella and the fit is great! The lower leg is on the slim side and we'd suggest measuring the pattern pieces (minus seam allowance) against your calf measurement to make sure the finished garment isn't too tight! Our pair took 1.7m of Vintage Finish Linen in Chartreuse and approximately 60cm of elastic.

The instructions were straightforward and included helpful illustrations for sewing the front pleats and pocket bag. Version A (with no waist tie) would be perfect for a beginner sewist as the method of construction is simple.

The Miller Trousers can be purchased as a PDF download pattern from the Paper Theory website here.

We love how these trousers pair with the classic Ogden Cami by True Bias! Pictured here is the cami made up in our Shell colourway. The Ogden Cami is hugely popular as it's a super simple make and also an easy pattern to hack into a dress! Ella is wearing a size 4, which took 1.1m of our Vintage Finish Linen.

Vintage Finish Linens - Chartreuse + Shell

This week we released the first drop of our new Vintage Finish Linen range, featuring 7 of our most popular colours. This ultra-soft finish is achieved through careful selection of Belgian-origin flax fibres, a specialized spinning process and a cold-pad batch dyeing system, certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Learn more about our linens here.

The Miller Trouser sewed up beautifully in this new linen and has us dreaming of all the colour combos we could wear! Our first drop features colours from top to bottom - Shell, Vintage Blush, Red Clay, Mustard, Chartreuse, Seasalt and Deep Teal.

The #millertrousers are a must-make! A dreamy wardrobe staple when made up in linen and ideal for pairing with wardrobe faves like this denim jacket. Share your creations with us on Instagram @wearethefabricstore using #thefabricstore.
